The Windows Subsystem for Linux lets developers run GNU/Linux environment -- including most command-line tools, utilities, and applications -- directly on Windows, unmodified, without the overhead of a virtual machine.

Background¶
Running servers, high-performance databases, and other fork-type applications on Microsoft Windows can troublesome to setup and deploy. Thankfully, Microsoft has added a new feature through the App Store that allows users to run a several Linux Distributions directly from their Windows Desktop Environment. You can also run multiple instances, or different distributions ( multiple of multiples ).
Installation¶
- Recommended distribution : Ubuntu 18.04
